INTRODUCCIÓN
Durante su travesía por el desierto Israel había construido el Tabernáculo de reunión, el cual era el lugar donde Dios se manifestaba a su pueblo. Justo a la entrada de este estaba el altar de bronce donde se ofrecían los sacrificios, sin embargo, era responsabilidad de los sacerdotes mantener encendida su llama.
“Y el fuego encendido sobre el altar no se apagara, sino que el sacerdote pondrá en la leña cada mañana, y acomodara el holocausto sobre él, y quemara sobre él las grosuras de los sacrificios de la paz. El fuego arderá continuamente en el altar; NO SE APAGARA”.
Levíticos 6:12-13
De igual manera es importante mantener la llama de nuestra comunión con el Espíritu Santo, aun más si somos servidores de su gracia. Sin embargo, muchas veces enfrentaremos dificultades que nos podrán desanimar y alentarnos a abandonar todo, pero es allí cuando debemos mas que nunca avivar el fuego del don de Dios que hay en nosotros. Pablo en su segunda carta a Timoteo nos enseña como mantenernos fieles aun en las más duras pruebas.
I. LA CONDICIÓN ACTUAL DE PABLO.
“Porque yo ya estoy para ser sacrificado, y el tiempo de mi partida está cercano”.
2 Timoteo 4:6
Para esta época el apóstol de los gentiles, Pablo, estaba sentenciado a muerte ya que el emperador romano Nerón había decretado el exterminio de todos los cristianos. El futuro de la iglesia se veía incierto y más aun al saber que uno de los percusores del evangelio entre los gentiles estaba a punto de morir.
II. LA SITUACIÓN ACTUAL DE LA IGLESIA.
En esta carta Pablo detalla todo por lo que la iglesia estaba atravesando:
1. Divisiones entre ellos, ya que la iglesia de Éfeso que una vez Pablo fundo y pastoreo le dio la espalda: “Ya sabes esto, que me abandonaron todos los que están en Asia, de los cuales son Figelo y Hermógenes”, (2 Timoteo 1:15).
2. Surgimiento de apostatas entre la iglesia: “Y su palabra carcomerá como gangrena; de los cuales son Himeneo y Fileto, que se desviaron de la verdad, diciendo que la resurrección ya se efectuó, y trastornan la fe de algunos”. (2 Timoteo 2:17-18).
3. Personas que abandonaron el evangelio por irse al mundo: “porque Demas me ha desamparado, amando este mundo, y se ha ido a Tesalónica”, (2 Timoteo 4:10), antes había sido gran colaborador de Pablo (Colosenses 4:14, Filemón 23).
4. Poco apoyo de los miembros de la iglesia a sus ministros: “En mi primera defensa ninguno estuvo a mi lado, sino que todos me desampararon; no les sea tomado en cuenta. Pero el Señor estuvo a mi lado, y me dio fuerzas, para que por mí fuese cumplida la predicación, y que todos los gentiles oyesen. Así fui librado de la boca del león”, (2 Timoteo 4:16-17).
5. Personas que se dedicaban a causarle daños a los que le servían a Dios: “Alejandro el calderero me ha causado muchos males; el Señor le pague conforme a sus hechos”, (2 Timoteo 4:14).
III. LA SITUACIÓN ACTUAL DE TIMOTEO.
Aparte de esto, la persona en la cual Pablo estaba confiando el futuro de la iglesia tenía los siguientes inconvenientes.
1. La timidez de Timoteo. “Por tanto, no te avergüences de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo, sino participa de las aflicciones por el evangelio según el poder de Dios”, (1 Timoteo 1:8).
2. Aun no había alcanzado la edad necesaria para ser reconocido como un líder. “Ninguno tenga en poco tu juventud, sino sé ejemplo de los creyentes en palabra, conducta, amor, espíritu, fe y pureza”. (1 Timoteo 4:12).
IV. EL CONSEJO DE PABLO.
Ante esta dura realidad cualquiera se hubiese desaminado y pensaría que no valía la pena continuar sirviéndole a Dios en su obra. Muchos tomarían una actitud de fracaso y pensarían que lo mejor es desistir; pero no Pablo: “Por lo cual te aconsejo que avives el fuego del don de Dios que está en ti…”
Es increíble la actitud que Pablo toma ante las circunstancias y el consejo que le da a su discípulo. Cualquier otra persona se hubiera deprimido al vivir este panorama desde una cárcel, pero Pablo solo tenía palabras de aliento. Pablo aconseja a su disciplino que lo que tiene que hacer es: avives el fuego del don de Dios que está en ti…
Todo esto nos enseña que el trabajo en la obra siempre ha sido difícil, nunca ha sido ni será fácil. Muchos se decepcionan y renuncian al trabajo en la obra de Dios cuando se ven involucrados en una serie de circunstancias difíciles, pero cuando esto suceda, Pablo nos dice que en lugar de desanimarnos y renunciar debemos avivar el fuego del don de Dios que está en nosotros.
Pero la pregunta es cómo mantener vivo el fuego del don de Dios en nuestro corazón.
1. A través de la lectura diaria de la palabra de Dios. (“La ley de Jehová es perfecta, que convierte el alma; el testimonio de Jehová es fiel, que hace sabio al sencillo. Los mandamientos de Jehová son rectos, que alegran el corazón; el precepto de Jehová es puro, que alumbra los ojos. El temor de Jehová es limpio, que permanece para siempre; los juicios de Jehová son verdad, todos justos. Deseables son más que el oro, y más que mucho oro afinado; y dulces más que miel, y que la que destila del panal”, Salmo 19:7-10).
2. A través de la oración, (“Por nada estéis afanosos, sino sean conocidas vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con acción de gracias. Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará vuestros corazones y vuestros pensamientos en Cristo Jesús”, Filipenses 4:6-7).
3. Buscando la llenura del Espíritu Santo. (“Cuando hubieron orado, el lugar en que estaban congregados tembló; y todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo, y hablaban con denuedo la palabra de Dios”, Hechos 4:31).
CONCLUSIÓN
Por tanto:
1. En la obra de Dios siempre encontraremos dificultades porque Satanás se opondrá a ella.
2. Nosotros debemos buscar mantener viva la llama del fuego del don de Dios que hay en nosotros y perseverar hasta el final.
